Teacher livens up lessons with song and dance
A professor who sings while she teaches is a big hit among her students
at the School of Literature, Southwest University, Chongqing Municipality.
Li Dawu, 58, began singing ancient Chinese poems to spice up lessons, as
students seemed to think they were dry.
She has been doing this since she started as a teacher at the university
25 years ago and her classrooms are reportedly full of song and laughter.

Can you come up with names for two pandas?
A pair of pandas need renaming, so Yunnan Safari Park in Kunming, Yunnan
Province, has launched a competition with a cash prize for the winner.
Anyone who comes up with the most suitable name for the pair before
October 25 will get a prize of 5,000 yuan (US$670).
The pandas were born in 1995 and 1994 in Sichuan Province, where they
were named Xin Xing and Di Di.
The park wants the public to rename Xin Xing who is a big eater, and Di
Di who is naughty -- preferably with names that are popular in Yunnan.

Migrant worker feels at home in bear enclosure
When Zhang Laicheng, a migrant worker from Guannan, Jiangsu Province,
arrived in Chongqing in 1992 he didn't think he was going to end up in
the panda enclosure.
The 33-year-old was initially hired by Chongqing Zoo to tend the flower
beds, but he helped out in the panda house and eventually became a keeper
there in 1996.
For the past 11 years he has become somewhat of an expert in panda care
and is known for being popular with the bears and being able to calm them
down by petting them.

Romantic memories lead to painful fall
A romantically inclined woman fell out of a tree earlier this month and
needed to be hospitalized for fractured bones after picking osmanthus
blossoms in Youyang County, Chongqing.
Qian Yu, 60, and her husband Tian Fan associated osmanthus with their
early days together, 40 years ago.
Earlier this month they returned to Youyang, where Qian used to live,
with the intention of rekindling memories of their courting days by
picking the sweet-smelling blossom.
